Gram Lentils Soup / Polievka z oranžovej šošovice

I fell in love with gram lentils. They are nutritious and very quick to prepare.

Today I tried the creamy version. You will need:

  • 2 potatoes /small to medium size/
  • 2 carrots /medium size/
  • 1 spring onion
  • salt
  • pepper
  • coconut oil
  • 1 cup orange gram lentils
  • cooking cream
  • a little bit flour to thicken the soup if necessary

  1. Clean the carrots and potatoes and grate them on a fine grater.
  2. Put a little bit of coconut oil into pan and into the pot.
  3. Add the carrot into the pot with a little bit of salt and pepper and roast a minute or two.
  4. Add hot water into the pot and the grated potatoes. Cover the pot and let it cook.
  5. Meanwhile heat the coconut oil in the pan.
  6. Cut the onion and add it into the pan.
  7. Wash the lentils and add them into the pan as well.
  8. Roast the lentils few minutes and add them into the pot.
  9. Let it cook 15-20 minutes so it is really soft. It will be easier to mix.
  10. Mix the soup with hand blender.
  11. Add more salt and pepper if necessary and a little bit of cream
  12. If the soup is not thick enough mix a little bit of flour and cream in a glass and add into the soup.
  13. Cook for more 5 minutes.
  14. Serve with croutons.

I think it will be great with to try it also as a sweet-sour version with some vinegar.

Last week I tried it without the cream and mixing, I put a little bit of more carrots and the potatoes were not grated but I cut them into small pieces.

Both versions tasted differently even though the ingredients were almost the same.

This recipe is for your inspiration. I have never followed recipe I read exactly step by step. I add something different, or I change something because I am not too much of a follower of recipes. I like to read recipes for inspiration not to follow them step by step.

So be inspired and let me know what have you done differently. Maybe some other vegies? Maybe a different seasoning? Or you tried the sour version with some vinegar?

 Zamilovala som sa do oranžovej šošovice. Je veľmi výživná a rýchlo sa pripravuje.

Dneska som vyskúšala jej krémovú verziu. Budete potrebovať:

  • 2 zemiaky /menšie až stredné/
  • 2 mrkvy /stredne veľké/
  • 1 jarná cibuľka
  • soľ
  • korenie
  • kokosový olej
  • 1 hrnček oranžovej šošovice
  • smotana na varenie
  • trošku múky ak bude treba polievku zahustiť
  1.  Očistite mrkvu a zemiaky a najemno nastrúhajte
  2. Dajte do hrnca a na panvicu trošku oleja.
  3. Do hrnca s olejom pridajte mrkvu s troškou soli a korenia a chvíľku poduste.
  4. Pridajte horúcu vodu a nastrúhané zemiaky. Zakryte hrniec a nechajte variť.
  5. Zapnite panvicu s kokosovým olejom aby sa nahrial.
  6. Nasekajte cibuľku a opečte na panvici.
  7. Poriadne umyte šošovicu a pridajte ju do panvice
  8. Pár minút opekajte šošovicu a potom ju pridajte do hrnca.
  9. Varte 15-20 minút aby bola zelenina rozvarená. Ľahšie sa bude mixovať.
  10. Ručným mixérom polievku rozmixujte.
  11. Ak je treba ešte dochutíme soľou a korením a pridáme smotanu.
  12. Ak nie je polievka dosť hustá pridáme do pohára trošku múky so smotanou poriadne rozmiešame a polievku zahustíme.
  13. Polievku prevaríme ďalších 5 minút
  14. Podávame s krutoníkmy.

Myslím že to bude skvelé vyskúšať aj ako sladko-kyslú verziu s octom.

Minulý týždeň som to vyskúšala bez smotany a mixovania. Dala som viac strúhanej mrkvy a zemiaky som nakrájala na kostičky.

Obe verzie chutili inak aj keď ingrediencie ostali takmer nezmenené.

 Tento recept je pre Vašu inšpiráciu. Ja som nikdy nepostupovala podľa receptu. Pridám niečo iné, alebo zmením niečo. Nie som moc dobrá nasledovateľka receptov. Rada si čítam recepty pre inšpiráciu nie aby som podľa nich postupovala krok za krokom.

Takže sa inšpirujte a dajte mi vedieť čo ste urobili inak. Možno iná zeleniná? Iné koreniny? Alebo ste vyskúšali na kyslo s troškou octu?
